Mom and Dad are not very happy with me right now.
Is it my fault that silly critter peed on me? I was just defending my territory, like a good guard dog is supposed to. Honestly!
Mom is almost ready to adopt those big critters that keep coming around, and she won’t let me chase them off; I wasn’t about to let this interloper get a paw in.
I’m not sure what it was, but it was about the size of the
roadkill cats. Kinda funny lookin though. Black with white stripes down its back, and a really funny pointed nose. Mom called it a skunk. I’m not sure exactly what that is but it looked like this:
Anyway, there I was, minding my own business when that little ‘skunk’ ruined my night. Dad had let me out to do my business and make one last patrol of the yard before bed. It was a nice night so I was taking my time making sure everything was secure when I caught the little runts scent. I was on him quick!
He made a beeline for the back fence and I was after him. I cornered him and started barking to warn Mom and Dad. And then he did it. That little ‘skunk’ turned his back on me! He was ignoring me. I got so mad I just barked even more.
Then he raised his tail and peed on me.
P-ewwwww……..right in my face. Boy did it stink. Dad was already calling me to come in so I ran back to him and went in. I tried to rub the smell off on the carpet but it just wouldn’t go away. Uuuggghhh! And then, to add insult to injury, Dad decided to dump me in the bathtub!
Why me?! I didn’t do anything!
It seemed like he kept me in there for hours rubbing water and soap all over me. Why me? What did I do wrong? At bedtime Mom almost didn’t let me sleep on the bed with them. Dad finally convinced her but she is still pretty upset with me.
I just don’t understand it. I was only trying to protect my home. Don’t I get points for that?
Although, I guess they might be upset that this is the second time I let that ‘skunk’ or whatever it is do this to me. I got dunked in the bathtub the last time too.
Mom came home the next day with some sweet smelling things that she plugged into the wall. She was in a bit better mood after that. She still grimaces a little every time she hugs me. I think she’s a little upset she has to replace my collar again. They never could get the smell out of it.
I’ll get that skunk next time
