Hi everyone…..Sorry about the unscheduled break there. The offices where I have my day job are in the middle of moving and it has been absolutly crraaazzzzzzzyyyyyyyy! I’m back now though.
On to today’s post:
I had a bit of an epiphany last night.
I was rummaging through one of my DIY reminder notebooks, trying to decide which project to tackle next when I realized something profound.
I need help.
One of many problems I have with managing the DIY upgrades in my home is keeping track of them. I have been using several trusty little notebooks where I would randomly jot down everything from room dimensions, color ideas, design ideas, websites to look up and sometimes just random ideas that popped into my head.
In theory, a great idea.
In practice, not so much. It’s very messy, very disjointed, and whenever I try to find something I thought I had written down, I usually can’t, and end up spending another few hours down the rabbit-hole online trying to find whatever it was I was looking for in my little notebook in the first place.
So, I need help.
Now, I tend to be a bit on the geeky side, so I started looking online to see if there was any kind of free software or spreadsheet templates that might work for what I wanted to do.
YIKES! Have people forgotten the meaning of the word S I M P L E? Oh there are plenty of phone apps and software programs out there, but they are not simple or flexible. I could not find a single one that would work. Good grief! I want to keep track of DIYs in my home, not build the next multi-tenant skyscraper to compete the Bat Building! Yes, I am the ‘project manager’ for my own home. No, that does not mean I need a Gnatt chart for painting my half bath.
I wanted something I could write on, scribble notes and random ideas on, but still easily keep track of where I was at in the house project.
So, I still need help.
Being the somewhat resourceful type, I sat down to my handy-dandy computer and put on my thinking cap. After some work, a little finagling, and a bit of hair-pulling, this was the result:
Miss Belle’s Handy DIY Remodeling Project Summary
Here you can see my notes for my half bath remodel that is slowly taking shape.
This lovely little printable will help you track your task list for a room remodel, notes, ideas, sketch a floorplan, track measurements, paint chips, fabric swatches, and budget your shopping list. It is perfect for a home DIYer. Not so complicated that it only works for a professional but still detailed enough to be more useful than a scratch-pad.
The best thing about this printable is that it has helped me keep track of which projects are completed and which are ‘in-progress’. It’s a great way to ‘bookmark’ where you are at in a remodel.
Of course after finishing this little beauty, I suddenly realized, I wanted…wait for it…, more. You’ll get to here all about that adventure in a later post.
For now, don’t miss out. Subscribe to my blog today to grab your copy of this fantastic free printable now!
